(ش ر ك) Shirk/Association/Partnerships in Ch 31

1&2 – 31:13
وَإِذْ قَالَ لُقْمَانُ لابْنِهِ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهُ يَا بُنَيَّ لا تُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ
The very first instruction luqmaan gives his follower is not to associate with Allah and that ash-shirk (show it’s a relative value) is an absolute value of oppression and a foundational one at that.
3 – 31:15
وَإِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ عَلَى أَنْ تُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلا تُطِعْهُمَا وَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا وَاتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ مَنْ أَنَابَ إِلَيَّ ثُمَّ إِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
And if our two parents to whom we are meant to be grateful strive to make us associate, we are to not obey them. We are turn to Allah and he is our place of return.
